When it comes to America, most of us believe that our country is an icon. People would like to visit for out culture, our history, our beaches. Other countries want to come visit because, lets face it, America is awesome. But why is it such a process to visit?
Before you visit, there is a $14 fee to complete an online United States government form called ESTA, or Electronic System for Travel Authorization. The ESTA is sort of check in to see why you are a visiting. It would also like to know if you're visiting to commit a terrorist crime, or to commit other "immoral activities." Even if it there was a plot to destroy America, I very much doubt that anyone with deviant motives is going to announce it in a form before traveling to the country. The website itself is a disaster zone. The page looks like it was created in the early 2000s, with its block letters, and awkward pictures.
After all this, you must complete a customs form, asking again if you plan on bombing the country or anything else terrifying. After scaring the guests in to our country, they are often given a lesson in our customs. Unfortunately impost of the customs taught are horribly outdated and just awkward to teach.
Our border is a very unwelcoming one, and with our country in this economic crisis, how can we hope to increase tourists to our country?
